Hello everybody,

During the day you should receive an email from Backerkit with subject "Last call to update your shipping address for The Eye of the Ocean".

Please check spam/junk/promo/updates folder.

Emails have been sent, but it takes time to dispatch all of them, probably a couple of hours.

You belong to one of these 3 cases:

• Moving soon? you need to update the address
• Not moved or not moving at all? no action needed
• Moved in the last 6 months? double check and in case update the address

Can't find the email? or do you want to check?

• Update/complete the address and save.

Your address needs to be valid, no PO-BOX for big packages

This is the Final Shipping Address Reminder Email and I will write another Kickstarter update as reminder.

• make sure the address is complete and correct

In 48 hours from the publishing date of this update backerkit will lock all the addresses.

After that I will start working on the fulfillment part. I will submit the addresses to both fulfillment centers, they will calculate the bill and start planning the fulfillment. The labels will be printed and the items will be packed.

More info will be given when they start packing.

it is time to focus on your own shipping address... yes, fulfillment is getting closer and it needs planning and cooperation from the backers, especially if you moved or are about to move to a new place. 

Please read carefully, but first here is the status:

Estimated fulfillment timeline

Quick update about transit times and fulfillment

Hi all,

First of all, thank you for the kind comments and for understanding that this is out of my control and that the world nowadays is a mess affecting shipping and anything else. 

I have additional info about the transit times.

The decks are leaving today with LE HAVRE EXPRESS  (ETA at Houston TX: March 23rd). A delay of more than a month is ridiculous.

I asked for updates about the books, and so far everything looks on schedule.

PLANS

Assuming that the books arrived safe before the decks, as soon as the ship docks in Houston TX, I start working on the addresses.

You will receive a mail from Backerkit asking to confirm or change the shipping address. 

A few days after, the updated shipping addresses will be locked and I will start talking to both fulfillment centers.

• EU, UK, and non-EU  countries near Germany will be fulfilled by Deallez (aka 52wonders)
• USA, CANADA, and rest of the world by Gamblers Warehouse.

I will pay the fulfillment fees in advance, and they will start fulfilling once they have all the items in stock.

There might be a segmentation and probably EU will start a little earlier to dilute the customer service inquiries.

RUSSIA, the plan was to ship from Germany. So far the postal service works. DHL, FEDEX, UPS stopped the service, but the German Post should work. It might just take longer than usual.

I do not know how the situation will evolve. I hope there will be a truce and a de-escalation from all sides, please do not launch nukes. I will monitor and follow up of course.

Delivery status

Hi all,

I was waiting for an update from Cartamundi about the shipping situation, but they could not give me anything by the end of Friday.

The situation is HORRIBLE. There are delays all the time, congestions, reschedules, and on top of that a new war unfolded in Europe (which is INSANE), so I really cannot give you delivery dates.

Here is the usual production status:

Transit situation:

Decks

The decks were supposed to leave on February 7, but they had a delay and it became February 19, then it became February 24, and today I do not know if they departed. 

They gave me 3 different vessel names and none of them is near the port of Antwerp (Belgium).

The last info is about this vessel, but it is stuck in France and I think it is not the one.

Maybe on monday I get an update.

Books

To Germany - A part is on a cargo train and hopefully it will arrive in time.  Once they arrive in Poland, UPS will forward them to Germany.  Fortunately this route is avoiding the war zone.

This is the route:

To USA - The biggest part is on this container ship and they are waiting to dock at Los Angeles CA, go through customs, and then be picked up by Fedex.

I have to wait mid march and see what is the status. 

Of course I will write updates if I have news. I will investigate the option of a segmented fulfillment only when the decks arrive in the US.

This is very stressing.  I am temporarily quitting with complex kickstarter campaigns involving items produced in different continents. The ocean freight situation is horrible and I am not intending to go through another project like this one. It is not fair for backers, and it is incredibly frustrating for me.

The invasion of Ukraine disturbed me and it is shaking the foundations of Europe. I do not know what will happen, just hoping this madness stops soon.

At this point just wait for my next update. Thank you for the patience and for understanding.

Production Completed | Freight ETA as we are in 1776

Hi all!

I have good news, and at the same time relatively bad news. 

Let's start with the good one: PRODUCTION COMPLETED. All items are ready and in transit to destination, which brings us to the relatively bad news.

Freight nowadays is a nightmare and the transit times are a joke. It feels like we went back 300 years.

Before I go into details, here is the production status:

Books

I asked the price to ship 1000 books by plane to save time knowing that it would be expensive.... they quoted $15.000 USD. This price just does not make sense, so I had to pick the Ocean Freight option for the USA,  and Railway option for Germany.

Both take approximately 40 days to arrive.

ETA books USA and Germany: 10th of March 2022

Once they arrive, Fedex will forward them to the Fulfillment Center.

Decks

Same as above. I just know the name of the ship (Dimitra C) which is going to pick up the decks at the port of Antwerp the 8th of February 2022, and freight them to the port of Houston TX.

ETA decks USA: 7th of March 2022

Codex

Quick note about these: an UPS is in transit to destination.

PLANS

Once the decks arrive to the American fulfillment center I think I will  be able to do a segmented fulfillment, meaning that the rewards without the books will be fulfilled first. 

Fulfillment (= packing 1000 parcels) takes approx a week and I can use that time while the books are about to arrive.

This is the intention, but I have to check if the ETAs are respected for all the items. 

Bottom line: I have to wait for the decks to arrive ad destination and check at what point are the books.

I really had no choice about shipping.  The shipping situation is horrible for a number of reasons that are affecting the world. Freight prices are 9-10 times higher than before the pandemic and the transit times are very long.

We just have to wait. Forget about this project for a month,  fortunately February is the shortest one... if that helps.

I will write another update as soon as I have news.
